what are your opinions on this card? it seems to crash with overdrive
turned on, it reaches over 73'c and attempts to turn the 411mhz to 425mhz
and kills the machine. thankfully a reboot fixes it.

Do you really need to clock your card? I'm the first one to try and OC my
video cards, my last card a Ti-4200 with 3.3 Samsung ram clocked to 310/675
no problem.
I've been playing with my new Sapphire 9800Pro (sadly mine only has 3.25
Samsung ram) and I can get her as high as 412/376 before it starts to
artifact. I've ran a battery of benchmarks on it and consistently gains
only1-2 fps, no matter what I throw at it. So I'm not hassling with it any
longer. I'm very happy with the way she runs at stock. JLC

I really don't want to oc my card, just wondering if it is worthwhile using
the overdrive function? and I am hoping for opinions on this brand of card,
I paid AUS$690 for it

I know what you're saying. I was thinking the same thing when I bought my
9800Pro and ended up with the slower 3.25 Samsung ram. I was hoping to
clocked the crap out of this card. Yet what I'm realizing is that I have
always bought middle level cards. I've had 5 cards in 6 years starting with
the good old TNT. I've always clocked my cards because there has always been
a better card out there. I always wait tell the price comes down (except
when I bought my GeForce 256 for $275 four years ago) So basically I've
never been happy with how fast my cards are. But with my new card I really
don't have to worry about that (at lest for a few months) I have a very fast
card, and I'm just not used to it yet. But I am clocking her anyway just to
help her out when the going gets rough. What was your old card? JLC

previously I had the radeon9700 but it seemed like I bought an overclocked
9500 with a 9700 bios flashed onto it. it ran fine, I thought it had ram
trouble for all my crashing, but I still get the same crashes with the new
9800xt. I paid out all that money and I am hoping I got a good one.

before that I was suckered into a gf4mx4600 as an upgrade to a tntm64.

73C? Is thtat a normal temp for a 9800XT? Same card as me, but under load
(BF1942 or 3Dmark2003) i only reach temps of 54C (thats room temp plus 30C).
IF 73C is normal, what sort of temps will these cards go up, afterall its
still winter here...

I'm in aus, normally it is considered summer here, but right now its 20'c
ambient temperature in my room, but the card reports 63'c. I hear catalysts
4.2 reports the temperature 20'c higher than normal.

maybe its this particular models HSF combo, it might be weak. I have a
zalman sandwich hsf kit that belonged to my old 9700, maybe I should swap
them over.

Q: Abit ATI Radeon 9800XT Opinions - Hi, A reputable retailer here in Sydney is selling an Abit ATI Radeon 9800XT. These cards are advertised as OEM cards with no software or vouchers for Halflife and are about AUD$150 cheaper than other 9800XT cards. Ive had a look on ABIT's site and..

AIW 9800 Pro vs 9800XT-256 - I wanna work with video which is why I want an AIW card. Will there be an AIW 9800XT card sooner or later? Should I go for an AIW or just get an XT? Thanks.

AIW 9800 Pro vs 9800XT-256 - I wanna work with video which is why I want an AIW card. Will there be an AIW 9800XT card sooner or later? Would anyone recommend an AIW over an XT? Thanx.

9800XT? Which one? - Hey everyone. Very soon I plan on purchasing a 9800XT (that is as soon as the X800 arrives here in Australia and the price drops). The choices for now are from these manufacturers, all with same specs: Abit, Asus, Elsa Falcox, Gigabyte, HIS, SmartVGA....

9800 Pro or 9800XT? - all right. i'm going to get one of these cards, but i've recently read on one of the threads here that you may be able to "mod" the pro to an xt? is it worth getting an xt or pro? if i get a pro, can i update it to an xp?
