We can play guess when Southern Isles will launch.

Sometimes I do notice that the original post of a thread is something I
don't get to see.

The most interesting thing for me is AVIVO vs nvidia Pure Video.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/ati-radeon-hd4550_6.html

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/htpc-graphics-cards_6.html#sect0

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/htpc-graphics-cards_7.html

... and also, Catalyst anomalies. Such as, in XP you have a video gamma
control (in the Video section for movies), but not in Win 7. However, in
Win 7 the desktop gamma control also affects the video gamma -- video
being overlay, it seems. Some players use the overlay and thus get the
AVIVO enhancements, some don't, if I interpret it right.

The lower end cards are missing the Dynamic Contrast feature. For
instance, my 4670 has it, but not the 4550.
