lol you must of checked the prices. Well lots of people still stand
firm behind the 9800 but thats no big leap from where you currently
are. As for what sits between the 9800 and the X800 others might
better help you. I will say that the X800 Pro is just under the 800
XP PE and is only a 20 mhz clock drop. I have heard of some people
updating the Pro's to PE speeds

The x600 xt is slower than your card. Anyway, the 9800 isnt more than 15%
faster than the 9700 pro... If you want an upgrade, get at least the x800
pro. I hear the x800 pro vivo can be turned into a PE...

Well you know the 9700 pro is noting to sneaze at. That's the card im
running and playing the same games

i get great frame rates in Doom3, HL2 and Farcry if i would be you i would
just overclock it and tweak my system.

At this time this card is still a great contender i would not spend the
extra $$$$$ at this time i would wait....

in HL2 i get over 95 Fps (running fraps)
in Counter strike source is the same
FarCry never noticed any hesitation
and finaly Doom 3 finished it without being disapointed

just my 2 cents

i would wait till the price drops unless you have cash burning a whole in
your pocket

cheers

Mark

AMD 2500 Barton (runnig at 2.0gig)

Okay if u must need the new card get yourself 9800XT with 256 onboard
memory choose a less known brand like Powercolor this card will do you for
atleast 2 yr's.

Since u do have limited budget I would either suggest 9800 XT 256 MB card or
geforce 6800 GT card, geforce card is little more than 9800 XT but it
outperforms 9800 XT at any games!!!!!!

This is non biased advice from one user to another..

Cheers

Forget 9___, and go to X___.

" and what are the differences between 128mb and 256?? "

For the 9___ series of cards, 256MB versions were overpriced, and not worth
the extra over the 128MB versions. However, the 256MB X700 XT is only a
little more expensive than a 128MB, and we are now moving towards games that
can utilise the extra 128MB.
